Captain Sean Thornton hit seven boundaries on his way to making 49 runs against Yorkshire

Windward's Intermediate cricket team travelled to Friendship, St. Thomas to play Yorkshire, in their penultimate match of the regular season. Winning the toss, Yorkshire Captain Timothy Legal opted to put the  visitors into bat first when the match got underway at 3pm, having been delayed due to wet conditions from early morning rains. Opening the batting for the Sagicor supported side were the pair of Alan Branch and Joshua Walker, who struggled against the bowling of Legal, Branch being declared LBW in the first over, having a single run to his name, and just 3 runs on the board. Walker was joined at centre by skipper Sean Thornton, and the pair added a further 9 runs to the score before Walker was run-out in the 4th over, having just 2 runs to his name. Under 17 team member, Elon Davis, replaced Walker at the crease, and he along with Thornton managed to add 49 runs to the score when Thornton was caught out having made 49 runs in the 8 overs he faced with the score now on 64 with 5 overs remaining in the rain shortened innings. Ronaldo Callender took his guard and slowly got into the groove, making a few quick singles and doubles with Davis before the latter was caught by Trevion Murray on 17 runs in 4 overs and the scoreboard reading 89/4. Vice captain, Shae Branch joined Callender in the middle, and the pair added a further 10 runs in that over before Callender was run-out. Ken Mason joined Branch for the last over of the innings, and the pair took the score to 104, Mason being stumped on the final ball of the innings.

Jewaun Cumberbatch opened the bowling for the Lucas Street lads, and held the pair of Peter Patterson and Lamar Wiggins to just 3 runs in the over, and surrendered just 13 runs in his 3 overs with the ball. Attacking from the other side of the pitch was spin bowler Shae Branch, who took the wicket of Wiggins in the fourth over, with the scoreboard reading 12/1. Branch also claimed the second wicket of the innings when he bowled Patterson out for 6 runs two overs later, then followed up two balls later, claiming the wicket of Joshua Corbin and the score having advanced to 25/3. Sean Thornton got in on the wicket taking action, taking that of Dwayne Collymore in the 7th over, Timothy Legal a few balls later, and Trevion Murray in the 11th, for  combined score of 11 runs. Not to be left out, Chris St. Hill captured the wicket of Antonio Glasgow in the the 10th over, while Ronaldo Callender took the wicket of Jabary Jones in the 12th. Liam Luke rounded out the Windward bowling attack, surrendering 9 runs in his one over, after catching Wiggins, Corbin and Legal off Thornton's bowling prior. Yorkshire was dismissed in 14 overs with a score of 73/8, giving Windward the victory by 31 runs. The Intermediate play their final match of the season at Bridgefield, St. Thomas against Melrose on Saturday 10th of October.
