Windward's Under 13 team played host to the Pickwick Griffins on Sunday under sunny skies. Losing the toss, the WCC lads were put in to field first, giving Matthew Lashley the cherry to open the bowling, and he made good use of this, allowing just 9 runs and taking 1 wicket in his 5 overs. The other Windward bowlers did a good job of controlling the game. Dhaniram Dharamdeo only allowed 14 runs during his 5 overs, while Jelani Joseph and Josh Branch both allowed 16 runs in their 5 overs with the ball, Joseph taking 2 wickets, while Branch claimed 3. At the end of the 35 overs, Pickwick had made 129/8, with K. Burgess making 30 runs, M. Williams 16, and A. Wilson 16. After tea, Max Symes and Rio Armstrong opened the batting for the Sagicor supported Windward side. Symes was bowled in the 4th over by K. Burgess having made 3 runs from 14 balls with the score on 18, while Armstrong fared no better, also making 3 runs when he was bowled in the 7th over by K. Williams. Lashley too had difficulty, only making 3 runs off 10 balls he faced, the score now 35/3 with 9 overs gone. Captain Josh Branch together with Jelani Joseph, took control of the pitch and put together a partnership of 65 runs before Branch was caught by Rice having made 31 runs, and the score at 100/4 with 21 overs gone. Next to the crease was Akash Ramchandani who added 1 run before being bowled by Beckles. He was followed by Dharamdeo who failed to get off the mark before being called LBW on the third ball he faced. Isaac Davis was also sent back to the clubhouse, having not being able to add to the score, which was now 112/7 with 10 overs remaining. Next to the crease was Michael Symes who did a sterling job with the bat, guarding his wicket, and helping to keep Joseph on strike when possible. The pair carried the score to 131 in the 29th over, giving WCC the win by 3 wickets. Their next match is on Sunday the 23rd when they play host to The Line & Length CricMechanic Academy.
