The Novel Sports supported Windward Under 13 cricket team travelled to Bennetts St. Thomas on Sunday February 18th to play the CCL Colts. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the homeside made a respectable 221/5 in 35 overs, with Jasper King making 50 off 39 balls. Windward's bowling was lead by John Massiah who took 2 wickets for 29 runs in 5 overs, while Jaiden Brathwaite was 1/24 and Shai Thorne 1/29. When the Lucas Street Lads took to the middle after the break, it was Shai Thorne and Stephano Springer who opened the batting, as hero of last weeks matches, Alex Armstrong, has been sidelined for the remainder of the competition with a severe groin strain. Springer's wicket would fall in the 10th over with the score already on 89, Thorne being responsible for 53 runs at that point. Michael-Andre Cossey replaced Springer, and faced 18 balls during 8 overs, making 15 runs when he was caught by Oliver King off the bowling of Najae Grogan, the score now 162/2, Thorne having made his second century in as many weeks. Ben Shepherd joined Thorne and the pair reached the target in the 26th over, with Thorne hitting a Six to win the match. Shepherd ended his innings with 12 not out from 20 balls, while Thorne smashed 150 runs off 80 balls in an hour and forty eight minutes at bat, earning the Man of the Match title on the day. The U13's next play The Bajan Cubs at Kings Park on Sunday March 3rd.
