Windward's tennis team faced off against the UWI squad at the St. James Racquet Club on Saturday afternoon, and once again came out on top despite missing their captain Andrew Thornton who was still in El Salvador coaching the Barbados Ladies team in the Junior Fed Cup. In the Ladies Doubles sets, Kristina Evelyn teamed up with Brandy Hayes to beat Shonte Sargeant and Jenelle Lynch 9 games to 0. Team mates Lori Phillips and Jessie Pinheiro also triumped in their game against Jolie Phillips and Sheryl Peter-Kirton, beating them 9 games to 0. In the Men's Doubles games, brothers Matthew and Gavin Hutchinson took on Zidan Dottin and Craig St. Hill beating them 9 games to 6, while Jonathan Walcott and Richard 'Bones' Marsh came out on top over Jeray Stuart and Xavier Peter-Gooding scoring 9 games to 6. Rick Taurel and Nile Morris dispatched Terrance Bradshaw and R. Knight, beating them 9 games to 4. In the Mixed Doubles sets things did not go as well. Vice Captain, Lee-Anne Thornton, teamed up with Lance Castagne-Clermont, to face S. Williams and Carissa Rudolfo and lost 9 games to 6, while Danielle Cupid and Matthew Walcott fought hard in their game against Damien Applewaite and Latisha King but lost by a score of 9 games to 8, giving WCC an overall winning score of 59 to 34. The teams next match is against the Tennis Centre at their Wildey courts.
