Second Division Win First Match

Alan Branch made 54 runs off 21 balls against WRBSSC

Windward's Second Division travelled to Bagatelle to play Welches, Redmans, Bagatelle, Sports, Social Club (WRBSSC) on Sunday April 7th. Losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Windward openers Alan Branch and Glenmar Hinds launched an assault on the homeside's bowling, amassing 33 runs at the end of the second over. Hinds would be caught and bowled by Shamar Paris two balls later, bringing Elon Davis into bat. Branch would lose his wicket in the sixth over, having made 54 runs off 21 balls, hitting Eight 4s and Three 6s along the way, and the scoreboard reading 85/2. Maxwell Lewis joined Davis in the middle, and the pair enjoyed a 21 run partnership lasting 2 overs when Davis was bowled by Dodi Herbert, having made 28 runs off 14 balls, the score now 106/3 with 12 overs remaining, bringing Cherran Thompson in to join Lewis. Thompson's wicket was next to fall, when he was bowled by Ryan Thomas at the end of the 11th over, having made 28 off 12 balls, hitting One 4 and Three 6s and taking the score to 146/4, bringing Ronnico Ross in to join Lewis. Unfortunately Ross would lose his wicket after having faced just 3 balls, thus bringing team captain, Lamar Springer into bat. Lewis and Springer added 20 runs off 16 balls when Lewis was dismissed Leg Before Wicket, having made 21 runs off 23 balls during his 44 minutes at bat and bringing Andrew Lythcott to join Springer with the score on 171/6. Lythcott would be dismissed for 6 when he was bowled by Shawn Alleyne in the 16th over, bringing Max Symes to join Springer at bat and the pair added a further 8 runs when Springer's wicket fell with 10 balls remaining in the innings, bringing Sadiki Nurse to join Symes to end the innings. Symes finished with 8 not out from 12 balls faced, while Nurse made 7 not out off 8 balls faced, and Windward having 225/8 after being awarded 24 penalty runs for WRBSSC slow over rate.

When play resumed after tea, club president Andrew Lythcott, opened the bowling for the Green & Gold, and took the first wicket in the third over when Gavin Isaccs was caught by Nurse, the scoreboard reading 25/1. Lythcott would strike again at the beginning of the fifth over when he bowled Ryan Thomas on the first ball faced, then three balls later, he would take the wicket of Bernard Graham, WRBSSC having just 32/3 in 5 overs. Nurse would take the next wicket, that of Dodi Herbert, in the 8th over, with the score now 64/4. Rio Armstrong would take his first wicket of the match at the end of the 10th over when Shaquille Ellis was out LBW then he would bowl Hakeem Wahid two overs later. the score now 93/6 with 8 overs remaining. WRBSSC batsmen Shawn Alleyne and Owen Birch would enjoy a 46 run partnership, which was brought to an end when Alleyne was stumped by Allan Branch off the bowling of Maxwell Lewis in the middle of the 16th over, the score having moved on to 139/7. Lewis would be responsible for the next wicket when Jahleel Kellman was out LBW 2 balls later, bringing Shaquon Jordan to join Birch in the middle, with 86 runs required from 25 balls. When Jordan was run out early in the penultimate over, the score was 176/9 with 10 balls remaining in the match. WRBSSC were awarded 12 bonus runs at the end of their innings giving them 205/9, with Owen Birch making 95 not out off 48 balls, hitting Nine 4s and Four 6s along the way.

The Second Division next play Christ Church Foundation School on Saturday April 13th at 2pm at the school ground.
