Second Division Victorious on Weekend

Second Division Captain, Lamar Springer, and Vice Captain, Glenmar Hinds, watch the last balls of the match against MappWest.

Windward’s Second Division chalked up two convincing wins over the weekend. On Saturday they hosted the Transport Board team who won the toss and elected to bat first, but were soon returned to the pavilion having all been bowled out for 60 runs in 15.5 overs, with Rashoun Archer taking 5 wickets for 9 runs in 3.5 overs, Winston Chase 10 runs, 1 wicket from 4 overs, Lamar Springer 20 runs, 2 wickets from 4 overs, and Sadiki Nurse 21 runs, 2 wickets from 4 overs. The Sagicor supported side then took to the pitch, with Glenmar Hinds and Alan Branch opening and quickly making the required score in just 6.1 overs, Branch getting 18 not out from 19 balls, which included two 4’s and one 6, while Vice Captain Hinds made 46 not out from 19 balls, smashing six 4’s and three 6’s along the way.

Elon Davis ended his innings on 4 Not Out from 8 balls faced.

On Sunday Windward again played host, this time to MappWest. In a rain affected day which only allowed 9 overs a side to be played, Windward once again dominated. Winning the toss and electing to put the visitors into bat first, the Lucas Street bowling attack made short work of the opening batsman, dismissing their skipper Rico Scott after 3 balls when he was caught by Rashoun Archer off the bowling of Sadiki Nurse, Scott having not gotten off the mark. Windward then claimed their next wicket when Springer caught Shane Hinkson off the bowling of Winston Chase at the end of the second over. One over later Victor Best was bowled by Nurse, having just 2 runs to his credit. The guys in green & gold would hold the Mapp Hill team to just 42 runs for 6 wickets in their 9 overs at bat, a score Windward would achieve in just 3.5 overs, with Glenmar Hinds making 13 from 5 balls, Alan Branch 12 not out from 11 balls, and Elon Davis 4 not out from 8 balls. The Second Division travel to Society, St. John, to play The Lodge School on Saturday, then to Lakes, St. Andrew on Sunday to face Isolation Cavaliers. Both matches get underway at 2:00pm
