Windward's Second Division travelled to Bridgefield, St. Thomas to play Melrose Sports Club on Saturday. Winning the toss, captain Andrew Thornton opted to put the home side into bat first, and Taurean Best to open the bowling, with Best having very respectable figures of giving up just 7 runs in the 4 overs he bowled. Andrew Lythcott shared bowling duties with Best for the first six overs, and he was responsible for taking the first wicket of the match, dismissing Jesse Lamaison in the second over with Melrose having scored 2 runs. He claimed the next wicket in the fourth over, bowling Owen Gibson out for 4 runs with score now at 13/2, and ended the day with 2 for 16 off 3 overs. The home side recovered from a very shaky start, when Andrew Foster and Sherwin Straker made a 60 run partnership, taking the score to 73/3 in 13 overs when Foster was run out on 23. Richard Cox claimed the next wicket when he bowled Anthony Hope for nil and was followed three overs later with P. J Rodriguez taking his first of two wickets on the day, when Barry Lowe was caught by Best in the 16th over with the score now 90/5. Windward vice-captain, Dindial Ramrattan, took his first wicket of the match when Deverson Carter was caught by Lythcott, without getting off the mark, followed on the very next ball, bowling Straker who had made 53 from 49 balls with the score on 96/7 with 3 overs remaining. Three balls later, Rodriguez claimed his second wicket when Best caught Devon Cadogan with 2 runs to his credit and the scoreboard reading 98/8. Ramrattan took his third wicket six balls later, dismissing Kerry Skeete for 2, and took the final wicket of the innings two balls later when Christopher Stoute was caught by Kai Rollins, Melrose having made 105 all out in 19.4 overs.

Niyim Joseph and Dave Sealy opened the batting for the green and gold, and got off to a slow start, scoring 3 runs in the first over, followed by 4 more in the second. Joseph was dismissed for 4 runs at the end of the third over, with the score on 12/1, bringing Kai Rollins to the crease. Four runs later, Rollins was returned to the club house having made a single run, and was replaced by Best who was run out in the seventh over with 6 runs in his account , the score now 30/4. Replacing Best at the crease was Andrew Thornton, who along with Sealy, carried the score to 44 when Sealy was stumped having made 23 runs from 34 balls he faced. Rodriguez join Thornton at centre but only managed 3 runs during his 8 minutes at the wicket. With the score on 53/5 with 5 overs remaining, Lamar Springer joined Thornton and the pair added a further 24 runs to the tally, with Springer hitting two sixes from the 25 balls faced. After 20 overs, Windward had only managed 77/5, with Thornton on 12 not out and Springer 21 not out.

The Second Division play their first home game on Saturday September 12th when Wibix comes to Lucas Street.
