Windward's Second Division played their first match of the knock competition on Saturday when they travelled to Lowland, St. Lucy to play Zone F winners, Lords Cricket Club, in the BCA T20 Plate Quarter Finals. Winning the toss, captain Andrew Lythcott opted to bat first, sending Amari Wiggins and Glenmar Hinds into the middle to get things started for the Lucas Street Lads. The pair had put up a score of 38/0 at the end of the first five overs, but Wiggins was caught by Kemar Goddard soon afterwards, ending his knock on 28. Hinds was joined in the middle by Lamar Springer, but this partnership was short lived, with Springer being returned to the pavilion with one run to his credit, and the scoreboard showing 65/2 after 10 overs. After their 20 overs at bat, the Sagicor supported Windward side had made 127/7, with Hinds having made 38, Shae Branch 18, Chris St. Hill 16 and vice captain, Dindial Ramrattan 11 not out. Opening the bowling for the Green & Gold was Shae Branch, who took the first Lords wicket in the first delivery of the first over. Amari Wiggins then "upped de ting" taking two Lords wickets in his first over, and as with Shae Branch also without surrendering a run, the score board reading 0/3 after 2 overs. The home team had managed to put 29 runs on the board without further loss by the 5th over, and added another 6 runs during the following over. At the midway point, Lords was 51/4, needing 75 runs from 10 overs to win, and club president Richard Cox having added his name to the list of wicket takers. At the end of the 14th over, Lords had increased their score to 74/4, then added another 18 runs in the next two overs at bat, giving them a target of 35 runs with 4 overs remaining. Hinds claimed two wickets, and by the end of his third over, Lords needed 15 runs to win. With one over remaining, Lords had taken the score to 120/6, needing 8 runs from the last 6 balls. Getting a quick 2 runs from the first ball, after it deflected of the bowlers foot, followed by a lovely ball by Micah Stuart on the offside, which keeper, Kemar Carter could not hold onto, allowing another run to be added to the board, the score now 5 runs required from 4 balls. On the third ball of the over, Juvall Hinds of Lords, took a swing, catching the top edge of the bat and lifting the ball over the boundary for 6, bringing Windwards hopes of progressing to the semi-finals to an end. Captain Andrew Lythcott said "The guys played well defending a small score of 127 against a team like Lords with at least 3 former first division and elite cricketers down to 19.3 overs, I would say very well done. No shame at all from our side. Hold your heads up high and prepare for the 40 over shield which starts on June 12th."
