Windward's Second Division side travelled to Padmore Village cricket ground to face The Priso
n Officers team. Losing the toss and being put into bat first, captain Andrew Lythcott sent the pair of Joshua Walker and Glenmar Hinds to open the batting for the Lucas Street Lads. By the end of the third over, the pair had amassed 35 runs, and added 15 more to the total 2 overs later when Hinds was dismissed Leg Before Wicket for 21 runs. By the 10th over, the score had moved onto 76 for the loss of 1 wicket, Walker now being joined by Tony Edghill. Walker ended his day with 44 runs when he was caught by Dennis Burrowes off the bowling of Elon Douglas, bringing Lamar Springer to join Edghill in the middle. Springer would end the day with 77 not out, and giving Windward a total of 186 for 5 in their 20 overs at bat.
Opening the bowling for the Sagicor supported Windward side was Dindial Ramrattan, who surrendered 16 runs in his lone over with the ball while Lythcott faired slightly better, allowing 23 in his 2 overs. Thanks to Chris St. Hill, Richard Cox and Nick Shepherd, the run rate was reined in with St. Hill taking a wicket and giving up 29 runs in his 4 overs, while Cox took 2 wickets for 21 runs in his 4 overs, and Shepherd, 2 wickets for 24 runs with his 4 overs. Windward won the match by 6 runs, having held the Prison Officers to 180/5. "It was an excellent all around team performance" said captain Andrew Lythcott. "We had an excellent knock of 77 not out from Lamar "Bruiser" Springer with 4 fours and 7 sixes as well as being excellent in the field. Josh and AJ (Hinds) should be commended on their knocks as well. As for the bowling, Cox and Shepherd got two wickets each, and St. Hill was steady with his bowling. I would also like to thank Max Symes for his aggressive fielding and consistent bowling on the day. He did a stellar job on a tough ground"
The second division play Market Hill at Market Hill next Saturday.
