Windward's Second Division played their penultimate match of the regular season on Saturday against Market Hill Blazers at Market Hill, St. George. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Lucas Street lads opened the batting with Joshua Walker and Glenmar "AJ" Hinds, who was acting as captain on the day due to injury and covid protocols of regular captain and vice captain. The pair quickly went to work, amassing 73 runs by the end of the 10th over, and Walker making 55 runs on the day, while Hinds managed 47. The Sagicor supported side ended their innings with 159/5. Opening the bowling for the Green & Gold was new comer Amari Wiggins, who took 2 wickets for 33 runs in his four overs with the ball, while Shae Branch, marked his return to the second division, having previously played for the Intermediate side in recent years, also took 2 wickets on the day, while surrendering 13 runs in his 4overs, in addition to showing his ability with the bat, making 17 not out.
Nick Shepherd continued to improve with each match, this time capturing 3 wickets while allowing 27 runs in his spell with the ball and not to be left out of the wicket taking, club president, Richard Cox took the remaining wickets, ending his spell with 2 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs. Market Hill ended the day having made 106/8 in their 20 overs, giving Windward the win by 53 runs.
Windward is now in a three way tie with Market Hill, and George Park for top spot in Zone D, with Market Hill and George Park playing each other on Saturday while Windward plays Wanderers on Sunday May 22nd at Lucas Street.
