It was a busy weekend for the over 40's team, having matches on both Saturday and Sunday. First up, WCC played host to Wanderers, and after winning the toss, opted to bat first, even though the wicket was soft due to heavy rains during the week leading up to the match. As a result, the ball kept low making it difficult for the opening batsmen to get the score going, and by tea the Sagicor Life supported side had been bowled out for 90 runs, with Geoffrey Mapp making 23, Alan Branch 22 and Andre Archer 11. The pitch was rolled during the break, and with the sun beating down, Wanderers was able to take advantage of the improved conditions and were able to make 91 for the loss of 1 wicket in 25.3 overs, with Bernard Frost on 42 not out and Mark Sealy 36 not out. On Sunday, the guys from the green and gold traveled to Lowland, St. Lucy to face Conrad Hunte. The wicket here had also suffered from rains during the week, and it too was soft, and the hope was that WCC would be able to take to the field first if they won the toss. However fate was not on their side, as they loss the toss and were put into bat first. Alan Branch and Bryan Weekes opened the batting and were quick to score a few boundaries before Branch was dismissed LBW with only 13 runs to his credit. Andre Archer replaced Branch at the wicket and he and Weekes added a few more runs to the books before Weekes was stumped behind, bringing Mapp to the crease. The pair of Archer and Mapp slowly added to the run tally, but the heat started to take its toll, and Archer was dismissed for 22. Mapp ended the day on 51 not out, and Windward had made 140/5 in 30 overs at tea. Opening the batting for Conrad Hunte were the pair of Dale Richards, and Hendy Hinds, who quickly went about scoring runs at will, with Richards making successive boundaries, until he was caught on the boundary by Jasper Seymour off the bowling of Mapp, with the score on 65, and a collective sigh of relief was had by the Windward side. However the visitors were never able to take advantage of the early dismissal of the former West Indies player, due to dropping a number of catches, and Conrad Hunte won the match by 8 wickets in 22.4 overs. The masters next match is on Saturday February 29th at Lucas Street when they host Zone leaders Pickwick.
