Windward's cricket teams had a busy Easter weekend, playing matches against Bayville on Saturday, and Wanderers on Sunday. Winning the toss on Saturday, the Sagicor supported team opted to put Bayville into bat first, and managed to limit the visitors to 110 for 7 in the 20 overs, with Matthew Alleyne getting 2 wickets for 4 runs in his 2 overs with the ball. After a brief break between innings, Lamar "Bruiser" Springer and Glenmar "AJ" Hinds opened the batting for the Lucas Street lads, but struggled against the pace bowling of D. Mayers, with Hinds being caught behind having made 1 run, and Springer managing 16 from the 12 balls he faced. At the end of the 10th over, Windward had only managed to make 34 runs for 6 wickets, with 5 of those batsman all being dismissed for 5 runs or less. Jafari Toppin took his guard and the herculean task of having to help his team make nearly 70 runs in less than 10 overs, and proceeded to chip away at the lead, hitting five boundaries on his way to 41 runs from 26 balls, before being caught at backward point. Matthew Alleyne added a further 13 runs to the total, but Windward came up short and lost the match by 17 runs.
The guys from the Green & Gold travelled to Dayrells Road on Easter Sunday to play Wanderers. Coming off a defeat from the day before, they decided to take to the field first upon winning the toss, with Jonathan Griffith opening the bowling and allowing 4 runs in the over, while the evergreen Winston Chase only allowed 1 run from the other end in the second. The trio of Matthew Alleyne, Akobi Byer and Rashoun Archer were responsible for taking all the home sides wickets, with Alleyne leading the way with an impressive 5 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs, and Wanderers being dismissed for 99 runs in 19 overs.
Having being dismissed for 17 runs combined the day before, the opening pair of Lamar Springer and Glenmar Hinds had points to prove to the selectors, and got underway with the task at hand. Hinds' wicket was the first to fall, with him having made 13 runs from 16 balls, bringing Micah Stuart into bat. Stuart opened his account, hitting a 4 on the second ball he faced, but was bowled out 3 balls later having not added any further runs to the tally. Elon Davis joined Springer at the crease, and the pair managed to take the score to the 100 runs required in 15 overs total, with Springer making 31 not out, and Davis having 34 not out.
