Windward's Masters cricket team faced BCL at Lears on Saturday afternoon. Winning the toss and opting to take to the field under sunny skies, Andre Archer opened the bowling for the Sagicor supported WCC men and held the pair of Sobers and Thomas to 2 runs in the opening over. Andrew Lythcott matched this tally in his opening over, but by the fifth over, when Lythcott caught Sobers off the bowling of Archer, the score had crept to up to 25 runs. When Curtis Inniss was dismissed LBW off Archer's bowling in the thirteenth over, the run rate had increased to 5.8 with the score on 76/2, then on the very next over, Jeffrey Scott was caught behind by Charlie Thornton off the bowling of Winston Chase, with the score on 79/3. Richard Cox then took over bowling duties, and he along with Chase reined in the run rate, allowing 8 runs between them in the next 4 overs, when Ian Durant caught Randal Haynes off the bowling of Cox with the score on 88/4 at the end of the 19th. Geoffrey Mapp Sr. took over bowling duties from Chase in the 22nd over, allowing 1 run in his first over, then taking the wickets of Webster and Bayley in the 24th over with the score on 106/7. The BCL ended their innings on 131 all out in 29.3 overs with Archer taking 2/36 in 7 overs, Cox 3/27 in 7 overs and Mapp 3/13 in 4.3 overs. After tea, Alan Branch and Tony Edgehill opened the batting for the Lucas Street team, but the pair failed to really get into the groove, with Branch being bowled by the swing bowling of Pedro Turney in the 6th over with 12 runs to his credit, bringing Archer to the crease. Edgehill fared little better, when he was dismissed LBW by Turney in the 10th over with him on 10 runs and the score on 37. Mapp's wicket was next to fall in the very next over when he was caught off the bowling of Turney, having only made 2 runs with the score on 42/3 in 12 overs. Lythcott joined Archer at the crease, but he too struggled to get off the mark and was dismissed by the bowling of Murrell for 2 runs having faced 7 balls, the score now at 51/4 in 15 overs. Thornton was next in the order, and faced 16 balls, having scored 6 runs when he was caught behind off the bowling of Murrell. Nick Shepherd joined Archer at centre and the pair slowly chipped away at the lead, however Shepherd was dimissed LBW having made 7 runs off 15 balls, with the score at 83/6 in 23 overs. With 12 overs remaining to make 48 runs to tie the BCL's score, Ian 'Q-tip' Durant took his guard and faced 9 balls without making a run, before hitting the next ball for 4. He and Archer continued to carefully pick their shots during the remaining overs, and with the scores tied at 131, with one ball remaining, Archer played a well bowled delivery just out of reach of the keeper. Durant already more than half way down the pitch, tried his best to complete the run, but was run out on 22. Windward was awarded the win due to having made the same score having lost fewer wickets. The masters next matches are on Saturday 22nd at Lucas Street when they host Wanderers, then on Sunday 23rd they travel to Lowland, St. Lucy to face Conrad Hunt.
