Juniors suffer second defeat of the season.

Windward's Under 13 team suffered their second defeat of the season on Sunday when they hosted the Desmond Haynes Young Lions. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first, taking advantage of the hard pitch, under overcast skies. Matthew Lashley opened the bowling for WCC and took the first wicket in the fourth over, when Kishan Ram was caught by Jershaun Joseph with the score on 21 and bringing Javed Worrell to the crease to team up with opening batsman Joshua Yearwood. The pair of Worrell and Yearwood then added 67 runs in the next 16 overs, when Yearwood was caught by Isaac Davis off the bowling of Josh Branch. Just 6 overs later, with the score now 142, Dhaniram Dharamdeo bowled Adeem Mayers who had made an impressive 34 off 21 balls, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes in 22 minutes. Worrell's wicket was next to fall two overs later when he was run out by Jershaun Joseph, the score on 156. The wickets of Jaiden Jordan, Oliver Gooding and Alex Marshall all fell in the following two overs, the Lions ending the day on 193/7 in 35 overs, with Dharamdeo taking 2 wickets for 33 runs, Josh Branch 1 for 17 and Jershaun Joseph 1 for 23. After the break, the Sagicor Life supported WCC lads had their turn at bat, with Lashley opening the batting with Max Symes, who was run out in the second over having not gotten off the mark, bringing Branch to crease. Lashley's wicket fell 7 overs later when he was caught by Worrell off the bowling of Ram with the score at 41. Jelani Joseph replaced Lashley, and he along with Branch added 10 runs in 5 overs when Joseph was caught by Jordan off the bowling of Zaire Carter. Rio Armstrong and Branch added a further 14 runs to the tally, when Armstrong was bowled by Yearwood in the 18th over bringing Ramchandani to the crease. Branch, Ramchandani and Michael Symes' wickets all fell in the following two overs with the score on 72/7 and 14 overs remaining. Isaac Davis added a further 3 runs before he was run out in the 24th over, and Alex Bowe along with Dharamdeo added another 15 to the score when Bowe was also run out. The Lucas Street lads ended the day on 112/9 in 35 overs with Dharamdeo on 17 not out and Jershaun Joseph on 1. The final regular season match is on Sunday at mid-day when Windward travel to Bennetts, St. Thomas to play zone leaders, Franklin Stevenson Academy.
