The Novel Sports supported Windward under 13 cricket team made it two in a row, when they defeated the Franklyn Stephenson Academy Colts on Saturday February 25th 2023. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the visitors got off to a quick start, scoring 11 runs in the opening over from Alex Bowe, but were reigned in by Ben Shepherd in the second over, when he allowed just 2 runs. Bowe's figures improved in his next two overs, allowing 5 and then 1 before being given a rest, to then return in the in the final over and take the final wicket of the innings, the Colts ending with 128/7. Ben Shepherd ended the day with 3 wickets for 15 runs from 5 overs, Dhaniram 'D.J' Dharamdeo allowed just 5 runs from his 5 overs, 3 of which were Maiden overs, and Aaron Blackman surrendered 9 runs during his 4 overs with the ball.
When the match resumed after lunch, Alex Armstrong and Malacai Pooler opened the batting for the Lucas Street Lads, with Pooler's wicket falling on the fourth ball of the opening over when he was bowled with the scoreboard showing a single run being scored. Michael Symes replaced Pooler in the middle and proved difficult to remove, ending the day with 50 not out from 73 balls in the hour and a half at bat. Armstrong too proved to be a challenge, but was eventually bowled out having 15 runs to his credit. Replacing Armstrong was team captain, Dharamdeo, who failed to get off the mark when he was bowled on the third ball faced. Shepherd had a similar fate when he took his guard, being returned to the pavillion on his second ball.. Stephano Springer joined Symes in the middle, facing 15 balls and making 4 runs when he was bowled and was replaced by Levi Rowe who ended the day not out. Windward Juniors won the match by 5 wickets and having 9 overs to spare. Pictures from the match can be seen on our website.
Their next match is against Carlton Juniors which will be played on Sunday at our Lucas Street ground.
