Windward's Intermediate side travelled to the Maurice King Sports Complex in Briar Hall, Christ Church to face JCB Boscobelle in the BCA T20 Shield Semi Finals on Saturday May 28th. Opening the batting for the Lucas Street Lads were Jafari Toppin and Latrell Greenidge, who got into the groove quickly, averaging 11 runs an over when Toppin was returned to the pavilion in the sixth over having scored 35 runs and the board showing 70/1. Greenidge ended his day having made 38 runs, while Sean Thornton, Naje Bishop and Shakeem Blades contributed 29 runs, 28 runs and 15 not out, respectively. The Sagicor supported side made 169/7 in their 20 overs at bat. The bowling attack of the Green & Gold held the defending T20 Shield Champs, to 37/1 after the first 6 overs, and continued to control the run rate at the half way mark, when the scoreboard read 64/2. By the fifteenth over, the run rate had crept up slightly, the score now at 115/3 with 5 overs left to play, while two overs later it was now 125/3. However the Boscobelle batsman Richard Greaves and Jadeja Edwards found new life in the remaining 3 overs, hitting 16 runs in the 18th over and taking the score to 141/3 with 8 balls remaining. With 22 runs required to win in the final over, Edwards came out swinging, hitting a Six on the second ball of the over, Boscobelle now needing 16 runs with 4 balls remaining. Two balls later and another Six was scored followed by a few wide deliveries meaning the St. Peter team now needed 2 runs off the last ball to win. With all to play for on the final ball, Edwards hit the ball and the pair took off running, making the required two runs in a dramatic finish, giving JCB Bosobelle a nail biting victory and punching their ticket to play Wanderers in the finals. After what was a heart breaking weekend, Club President, Richard Cox said "I want to congratulate the coach, captains and players for the fantastic effort and performance throughout the T 20s. The season is yet young, however, Windward has made it clear that we mean business this year. While you may be disappointed with Saturday's results, remember that the main event is still to come. The 40 over and more so the 2 and 3 day cricket is very important as that is where winning the cup means promotion. We have a lot more to play for guys, so keep up the great work, team spirit and determination that has been shown thus far."
