Intermediate dominate first innings against Inch Marlow

Jafari Toppin took 4 wickets for 17 runs in 5 overs in the first innings against Inch Marlow.

Windward's Intermediate side began their final match of the regular season on Saturday 29th of October. Winning the toss and putting the visitors into bat first with rain clouds threatening in the East, Jonathan Griffith of the Sagicor supported side, opened the bowling, allowing 2 runs in the over before rain interrupted play. When play resumed 30 minutes later, Amari Wiggins also held the visitors to an additional 2 runs in his opening over, and would take the first wicket of the match in his next over with the ball. Wiggins would end the day with 2 wickets for 7 runs, 1 maiden in his 5 overs. By tea the Buffy's Mini Mart supported side had managed to score 34/3, but lost 3 more wickets to Jafari Toppin, while adding a single run to the board when they returned to the pitch. Toppin would end the day with 4 wickets for 17 runs in 5 overs. Ronaldo Callender would claim 2 wickets in the very next over, with scoreboard now showing 39/8 at the end of 14 overs. 'Callie' would end the day with 2 wickets for 21 runs, 1 maiden in 4 overs. The Lucas Street Lads would go on to bowl the visitors out for 70 runs in the 22nd over.

Opening the batting for Windward were Kastun Stoute and Alan Branch, who made 1 run in the first over, before beginning their onslaught on the bowling of the visitors, scoring 18 in the second, and a further 15 in the next. A further 17 runs were added in the 5th over, taking the score to 51 and in the following over, Stoute would make his 50 having faced 26 balls. At the end of the 8th over the homeside had equalled the 70 runs, without loss, with Stoute on 60 not out and Branch on 8 not out.

The match resumes on Saturday November 5th at 1pm at Lucas Street.
