First Division Victorious over B'dos Youth

Tennyson Roach made 55 against Barbados Youth, and 36 against Yorkshire over the weekend.

The BCA T20 Cup tournament bowled off on Saturday April 15th, with Windward playing their first ever 1st Division match. Losing the toss and being put into bat by the Barbados Youth ‘B’ team, captain Latrell Greenidge opened the batting along with new comer to the Green & Gold, Tennyson Roach. Greenidge’s wicket was the first to fall, when he was run out for 2, thanks to some outstanding fielding by the visiting team. Former Spartan Elite Division captain, Chad Williams replaced Greenidge, but soon returned to the pavilion, having scored just 5 and the scoreboard showing 13/2 in the 3rd over. Naje Bishop joined Roach in the middle and got off to a good start, scoring 14 runs from the 15 balls faced when he was caught by J. Mapp, having caught Williams earlier. Former BDF player, Rico Wiggins replaced Bishop, and he along with Roach carried the score to 73/3 after 10 overs. Roach was finally caught, again by Mapp, having made 55 runs from 44 balls, bringing Shakeem Blades to the crease, but he soon returned to the pavilion with just 7 from 6 balls. Former Wildey Sports Club player, Antonio Alleyne also struggled against the bowling of Baptiste, losing his wicket on the first ball he faced, bringing Maxwell Lewis into bat. Lewis too had difficulty making an impression before being caught off the bowling of Baptiste, with just 4 runs from 7 balls. Cherran Thompson faired a little better, making a single off 2 balls faced, while Matthew Alleyne shared the same fate. Adjani Watkins joined Wiggins to end the innings, Wiggins having 48 not out, Watkins 3 not out, and Windward putting up a score of 153 all out.The Barbados Youth team put up a good fight, but in the end were bowled out for 117, with Z. Carter making 34 and E. Currency-Barnet 27. Chad Williams led the Windward bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 22 runs from 3 overs. Rico Wiggins took 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs, while Cherran Thompson and Adjani Watkins each claimed 1wicket. They next play Gladiola at Rices on the 22nd, then Spartan at Queens Park on the 23rd.
