First Division Lose one Win one.

Shakeem Blades
Shakeem Blades made 62 runs off 38 balls against St. Catherine.

Windward's first division had a weekend of mixed results. Travelling to Black Rock to face Carlton Club on Saturday, the Lucas Street Lads won the toss and opted to be in the field first, having a target to chase. Opening the batting for Carlton were the pair of Leniko Boucher and Kailan Vanterpool, who put up a score of 22 runs in the fourth over when Matthew Alleyne bowled Boucher, who had 13 runs off 12 balls. Alleyne would take the next wicket, that of Marlon Welcome-Goodman, eight overs later with the score having moved onto 104/2 thanks to Welcome-Goodman making 33 off 32 balls and bringing right handed batsman Kai Patrick to join Vanterpool in the middle. Shakeem Blades would take his first wicket of the innings when he bowled Patrick in the seventeenth over, the score now 133/3 and bringing in Damien Hoyte to the crease. Blades would strike again in the penultimate over when Vanterpool was caught by Micah Stuart at short third man bringing in Tarik Shorey with the score now on 151/4 and nine balls remaining in the innings. Carlton would end their innings with 166/4.

Kastun Stoute and Micah Stuart opened the batting for the Green & Gold, but got off to a rocky start when Stuart was caught by Boucher in first slip off the bowling of Zidane Clarke on the second ball of the innings, with just 2 runs on the board, bringing skipper Rico Wiggins in to join Stoute. Stoute would be caught by Dante Niles having made 24 runs off 18 balls in the fifth over bringing Latell "Buffy" Greenidge to join Wiggins. Five balls later, Wiggins was caught by Welcome-Goodman having made 16 runs off 12 balls and the score now 47/3. Windward wickets continued to tumble with Greenidge, Thompson and Archer all succumbing to the Carlton attack, adding just 11 runs in three overs. Matthew Alleyne and Shakeem Blades would attempt to settle things down, adding 16 runs to the board when Alleyne was caught by Welcome-Goodman at the end of the twelfth over, Windward in the unenviable position of having 74/7 with eight overs remaining to get 93 runs. Rachid "Bob" Oneale replaced Alleyne and he along with Blades added a further 28 runs to the board when Blades was caught by Niles with just over three overs remaining and 65 runs required, bringing Adjani Watkins to the crease. Just over two overs later, Oneale would be run out with the score now 120/9 and 7 balls remaining to make 47 runs, Windward would end their innings with 133/9, losing by 33 runs.

On Sunday, they would travel to Bayfield to play parish rivals St. Catherine, who had lost to YMPC by 134 runs the week before. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the home side got off to a slow start, with the wicket of opener Chad Puckerin being taken by Jonathan Alleyne at the end of the third over with just 14 runs on the board, then three overs later, Rashoun Archer would claim the wicket of Aaron Griffith when he was caught by Latrell Greenidge, the score now 40/2. Just over three overs later, Maxwell Lewis would take Shaquille Haynes wicket when he was caught by Rico Wiggins at extra cover, the score having moved on to 60/3 with 10 overs remaining. Twins Danial and Darius Joseph would attempt to steady the batting for St. Catherine and added 22 runs to the score in 4 overs when Danial was caught by Shakeem Blades off the bowling of Rachid Oneale bringing Dario Cumberbatch to the crease. Brother Darius was next to follow when he was bowled by Blades late in the seventeenth over, with the score now 111/5. Rico Wiggins would claim the next wicket, when Aaron Weekes was caught by Cherran Thompson at the end of the nineteenth over and the score now 131/6, and he was followed by Cumberbatch four balls later when he was run out. St. Catherine making 144/7 in their 20 overs at bat.

Opening for the Guys in Gold & Green were Kastun Stoute and Cherran Thompson, but this partnership was short lived as Stoute was declared out LBW on the first ball faced, bringing Rico Wiggins to the crease. Cumberbatch's pace proved too much for Wiggins during the first over, Wiggins not being able to get off the mark. Wiggins would fare better against the bowling of Dashawn Norville in the second over, getting 4 byes and running a quick single. Cumberbatch again proved too much in the third over, only allowing the pair to get 2 runs in the over. Wiggins would surrender his wicket in the middle of the fourth over when he was caught by Damien Browne, having made just 2 runs from 15 balls faced, and the score just 12/2. Latrell Greenidge would lose his wicket one over later with the score now 31/3, bringing Blades to join Thompson in the middle. This pair would enjoy a 48 run partnership lasting eight and a half overs, when Thompson would be caught by Cumberbatch off Daniel Joseph having made 27 runs of 28 balls, and the score having moved on to 90/4 with 7 overs remaining. Lewis joined Blades, and the pair continued to chip away at the target, making 29 runs in just over 3 overs together when Blades was caught out having made 62 runs off 38 balls, hitting five 4s and four 6s, and taking the score to 119/5, Windward now needing 26 runs off 26 balls remaining. Lamar Springer joined Lewis in the middle and they struggled a bit with the bowling of Cumberbatch, only managing 4 runs in the over, but were more successful against Damien Browne, Lewis hitting a 6 on the first ball of the over, and adding a further 11 runs to the board. With two overs remaining and 10 runs required, Cumberbatch was given the task of limiting the run rate of the Lucas Street Lads, and allowed 7 runs in the over, but claimed the wicket of Springer who was caught in deep extra cover by Weekes, the score now 142/6 with one over remaining and Damien Browne bowling. Lewis would get the remaining runs required, giving Windward the win by 4 wickets with 5 balls to spare.

Their next match takes place on Saturday April 20th when they travel to Trents to play Maple, then play YMPC at Beckles Road on Sunday.
