Still having to dismiss the last Isolation batsman, Windward took to the field at the start of the second day of the semi-final match. Sean Thornton opened the bowling and immediately showed that he meant business, allowing only two runs on the over. Shae Branch took his captains lead, and improved upon it, bowling a maiden over, adding to the six maidens from last week. Thornton then took the final Isolation wicket on third ball of the third over, leaving the St. Philip team a score of 205 to chase. Opening the Innings for the Sagicor Life supported team were the pair of Lamar "Bruiser" Springer and vice captain Alan Branch, who got off the mark when Branch made a quick single on the third ball of the over, putting Springer on strike. This proved to be the only action Springer would get, as on his first ball, he was dismissed by Kemal Small, Leg Before Wicket, and immediately putting the WCC team on the back foot, losing their first wicket for just one run. Shae Branch took his place on the strikers end, and made three runs on the two remaining balls in the over, and putting him back on strike for the following over, when he made two successive fours, and giving the guys of the green and gold a score of 12/1 after 2 overs, and a glimmer of hope for the innings. However this hope was quickly extinguished when Shae's wicket fell at the end of the next over, when he was declared Leg Before Wicket and sent back to the clubhouse with WCC on 13/2. Ryan Wiggins strode to the pitch with an air of confidence, and the teams hopes squarely resting on the pair of Branch and Wiggins, whose partnership produced 19 runs off 31 balls when Branch's wicket fell, having being caught with just four runs to his name and the score at 32/3 in 8 overs and bringing captain Sean Thornton to the crease. During the season, the pair of Wiggins and Thornton have had productive partnerships, and the hope was this would be the case this time around, but Isolation bowlers Morris and Small, held the pair to a single run in the next four overs. Thornton finally got off the mark when he hit a four off the bowling of Morris, bringing the score to 39/3 in 14 overs. The next over brought the pair a further 11 runs, and that flicker of hope returned. Isolation changed their pair of bowlers, giving the ball to former WCC member Kareem Knight, and captain Jermaine Bullen, and the duo reigned back in the run rate, allowing just 7 runs in the next two overs, and Bullen claiming the wicket of Thornton at the end of the 17th over with the score on 58/4. Next up was middle order batsman Kyle Brathwaite, who never really got into the batting groove and was dismissed with 3 runs to his credit off 16 balls, with the score 75/5 in 23 overs. This brought Ronaldo "Callie" Callender to the pitch, and he too had a tough time scoring against the bowling of Knight and Bullen, and was eventually caught by Levi Cadogan off the bowling of Bullen in the 27th over, having only managed 3 runs off the 19 balls he faced. The score now 89/6 and the bottom of the order coming into play. Things went from bad to worse when Thaddeus Catlyn, Jewaun Cumberbatch and Joshua Branch all lost their wickets without scoring a single run between them. With the score on 98/9, Andrew Lythcott left the clubhouse at 4:20pm knowing he had one job to do, and that was to support Wiggins, who was now on 45 runs, and try to get the team as close to the oppositions score of 205 as possible. The pair then spent the next hour together, adding a further 54 runs in 15 overs to the score, when Lythcott was run out with 1 run from the 15 balls he faced, and Wiggins ended a sterling effort at 98 not out and a score of 152 all out. With one day remaining in the match, and Windward trailing by 53 runs, things do not look promising, but the team has been in similar situations before, as recently as their previous match against The Psychiatric Hospital, when they started the second innings 23 runs behind, and won the match by 9 wickets. For them to repeat this feat, not only will the bowling need to be as good or better than it was in the first innings, but the fielding will need to be more on the ball with fewer errors, for the batsmen to have a chance at pulling this one back.
