Windward Junior Cricket member, Akobi Crichlow-Byer was selected to represent Barbados in the Rising Stars Under 15 Championship held in Grenada from August 20-26th. Playing 5 matches in 6 days, the undefeated Barbados side came out on top, winning the tournament with 18.4 points. The off-spinner Byer was instrumental in the victory, with bowling figures of 2 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs against Jamaica, 1 wicket for 5 runs in 4 overs against Windward Islands, and 2 wickets for 6 runs in 3 overs against the Leeward Islands. Windward Cricket Club coach, Jafari Toppin said "I think the work that Akobi has been putting in, on and off the field has been fantastic. Over the past few months he has been getting to understand the importance of speeds and control which I thought he executed brilliantly and I hope this will be a start to something special."
